What actually happens
Everyone scans the code. Their phone shows "fntiehc" and a countdown. People are typing furiously. Someone in the back shouts the answer out loud, catches themselves, then types it in.
First correct answer banks 978. Second banks 952. The one who got it on the buzzer banks 514. Whoever typed "fantech" banks nothing. The board reshuffles before the next word loads.
By the fifth round the scoreboard tells a story: a clear leader, two challengers, and someone at the back who is quietly first by half a second every single time.

Be fast and accurate. Scoring is weighted by speed: instant answers score most, last-second saves score least, wrong answers score zero. The leaderboard updates after every round, and the highest total wins.

Once Unscramble is running, the scoring, the leaderboard, and the ending are handled. You get to be in the room instead of behind a spreadsheet.

A code goes on your screen. People point a camera at it, type a name, and they are in. No app, no accounts, no one asking what the wifi password is.
Answers are marked as they land and the board updates between rounds. You are not holding a clipboard, and nobody is arguing about who said it first.
Top three on the big screen at the end, and every player gets their own result card on their phone that they can save or send to the group chat.
The same session works with everyone around one table, everyone on a video call, or half and half. Nobody has to be in the right place to join in.

A facilitator watching a workshop wilt runs five rounds built from the workshop's own vocabulary. People who have not spoken in an hour are suddenly fighting for the top of the board. The next session lands on a room that is actually in it.

A consumer brand puts a screen in a conference lobby running Unscramble built from its own product names. Delegates queue up to beat the leaderboard. The brand's words are the game. Engagement gets measured in minutes rather than glances.
Pub quiz
A quiz that needs something beyond trivia. Three rounds built from local landmarks, and the table at the back that lost the music round wins this one outright. The pub asks for it again the following month.

Make it yours
Unscramble ships with ready-made word sets, but the good version is the one you write. Type your own words in the Playground or upload a spreadsheet, and the round stops being generic.
Build a set from the menu, the neighbourhood, and the regulars. Tables play as teams and the winner gets a round on the house.
Scramble the couple's names, the honeymoon destination, the dog. Guests race from their seats between courses.
Use the acronyms new joiners are expected to learn. They will see each one five times in ten minutes and remember them better than any wiki page.
Words from your own world: the industry, the group chat, the running jokes. Members recognise themselves in it, which is the whole point.
How Unscramble plays
Ready-made sets work straight out of the box. Your own sets are where it gets good. Teams turn it into an argument, in a nice way.
